It’s a nice summer day out, you’re freshly showered and you’re sitting on the subway. But your clothes soon begin to emit an unpleasant odor? You feel uncomfortable and don’t understand why your shirt begins to smell so quickly?

The reason for this is that textiles are a great breeding ground for specific bacteria that are the cause of your body odor. Strictly speaking we are not responsible for the way our sweat smells. Human sweat itself is odorless. The unpleasant smell is caused by bacteria that interact with certain types of fats and proteins in your sweat. Especially prone to this are clothes made from polyester.

 

A solution to this problem is an anti-odor feature in textiles. This is based on two mechanisms. Firstly it uses the biocidal effect of silver. Ions are formed on the silver’s metallic surface. These ions have germicidal properties that prevent the reproduction of bacteria. In addition to inhibiting the odor, this also gives the textiles an antimicrobial effect. Secondly, the increase of bacteria can also be prevented by amino sugar polymers, which remove fats and proteins from sweat and bacteria.

Amongst other technologies, ARYS uses the HeiQ Pure SPQR technology in its products, which combines both of these mechanisms. To give our textiles the desired antimicrobial properties, our products use biologically based odor inhibitors of which 90 percent are amino sugar polymers and 10 percent are recycled micro-silver. This keeps our clothes odorless for a long time, improves your overall wellbeing on a day-to-day basis, and also reduces the necessary number of washes.
